In November of 2014 eight church members went to a depressed coal mining area of West Virginia to lend a hand in a very poverty stricken area. We learned that poverty too is a “disaster” but there is little state or federal funding for this disaster. The family we helped and bonded with had no running water. They filled buckets from the creek nearby to flush their toilet. Laundry had to be taken elsewhere and sometimes they couldn’t help but drink and cook with the polluted creek water. This family of 4 had one twin sized bed to sleep in. We not only gutted & refinished a couple of rooms but bought them 2 new beds and all new pretty bedding and paid to have a well dug. These work trips are not only a blessing to people in need but we too are very blessed. The Holy Spirit works through us & brings great joy to all.
