BIKE AND BUILD GROUP 2016
On Thursday, June 9, 2016, MUPC hosted 30 members of 2016 Bike and Build who are enroute from CT to CA. They left Harrisburg in the morning and arrived around 5pm. A wonderful dinner was provided for them, topped off by fresh strawberry homemade ice cream. They were all housed overnight by members of our congregation and returned to the church for breakfast on Friday before going on their way to Cumberland, MD. Bike and Build consists of young adults who ride bicycles, stopping along the way for build days, helping build affordable housing for those in need. We are indeed grateful to Linda Heuston for chairing this event. Thanks to all those who provided overnight accomodations. Gratitude to Jayne Metcalfe and daughter Laura. Jayne planned and delivered both dinner and breakfast for the group. Richard Rotz made the ice cream and gave bikers a chance to hand crank the churn on the ice cream freezer. Please note the picture where three bikers are scooping the ice cream off the paddle. They said they had never seen one before, did not know about that tradition.
